FAQ
About the Product Menu
What is the Product Menu?
The Product Menu is a searchable library of Famehouse product capabilities. Authorized UMG users can explore products Famehouse can design and develop, reference examples of previously released product executions, and browse available blanks and established product categories. The site also features curated Trend Reports with ideas, insights, and creative inspiration, as well as a Planning Platform that presents Famehouse’s strategic vision for artist merchandise, fan connection, product architecture, channels, and development paths. The library can be used for internal reference and to assemble draft plans for discussion and Famehouse review. Draft plans are a starting point—not a final order, quote, approval, or production commitment.
Who is the Product Menu for?
It is designed for internal UMG users who want to explore available product and service options, understand what Famehouse can support, and begin shaping draft plans for artists, labels, or campaigns. These plans can then be reviewed by the appropriate Famehouse stakeholders for refinement and next steps. Plans and plan emails may be shared only with authorized UMG employees for internal planning. Contact the Support team if you are unsure whether sharing is appropriate.
How should I use the Product Menu?
Browse products, use filters to narrow options, review product details, and add items to a Plan Sheet. Open the Plan Sheet icon in the upper-right corner to review and name the plan in the pop-out, then select Generate Plan Email when it is ready for internal review. Use the Product Menu as an early planning workspace before moving into the required Creative, Product Development, Finance, and operational processes. Plans and plan emails may be shared only with authorized UMG employees for internal planning. Do not share them with artists, management, partners, vendors, clients, or other external parties. Contact the Support team if you are unsure whether sharing is appropriate.
Is the Product Menu an ordering system?
No. The Product Menu is for exploration, early planning, and stakeholder alignment. It does not confirm final availability, pricing, timing, approvals, budgets, or production feasibility. Any plan created in the Product Menu still needs to move through the appropriate Creative, Product Development, Finance, and operational workflows before work can proceed.
Can I use the Product Menu just to browse?
Yes. You can use the Product Menu to explore products, services, trend direction, and resources without finalizing or sharing a plan. The planning tools are there when you are ready to collect ideas or start a discussion.
Browsing & Product Selection
How do I choose the right product category?
Start by thinking about the artist, audience, intended use, timeline, and where the product may be sold or shared. Use the available filters to narrow options, review relevant product details, and compare what feels most aligned. It may also help to reference past assortments or brainstorm options with internal stakeholders.
What does product tier mean?
Product tier helps communicate product positioning, from more premium or elevated products to more accessible, high-volume options.
Are product tiers the same as store tiers?
No. Product tiers describe product positioning. Store tiers or service tiers may refer to a separate commercial or service model.
Can the same product appear in more than one collection?
Yes. A product might qualify for a product-category collection, a lead-time collection, a retail-price collection, and one or more other collections at the same time. These are different discovery paths to the same underlying product.
What should I do if filters return too few or no products?
Remove the least important constraint first, broaden the price, MOQ, or timing range, or return to a broader collection. An empty result does not necessarily mean the product idea is impossible; it may require a different production path or additional support.
Plan Sheets & Plan Emails
What happens after I create a plan?
After you create a plan, you can review and refine it with the relevant Famehouse stakeholders. Plans and plan emails may be shared only with authorized UMG employees for internal planning. Do not share them with artists, management, partners, vendors, clients, or other external parties. The appropriate teams must still review feasibility, timing, pricing, approvals, budget, and execution path before anything moves forward.
Does adding a product to a plan reserve inventory or confirm production?
No. Adding a product to a plan does not reserve inventory, confirm availability, or start production. It simply helps you collect and organize ideas for review and discussion.
Who should review a plan before it moves forward?
Review needs may vary by channel or project. Please ensure that members of the relevant CFT or your direct supervisor review plans before execution, in line with other Famehouse processes such as Milestone Management.
How do I create and send a plan?
Add products from their product pages. On desktop, select the Plan Sheet icon in the upper-right corner to open the Plan Sheet pop-out. Enter a required Plan Label—a short, recognizable nickname for the plan. The label saves automatically as you type; you do not need to press Enter. Review the selected products in the pop-out, then choose Generate Plan Email. This begins Shopify’s checkout-style submission flow; the plan email is sent only after you select Complete order.
Do I need to open the dedicated Plan Sheet page?
No. The Plan Sheet pop-out includes the information and actions needed to review, label, and generate a Plan Email. The Plan Sheet heading at the top of the pop-out links to the dedicated page if you prefer that view, but using it is optional.
What does Complete order mean in the Product Menu?
Complete order is Shopify’s standard label for finishing the plan-email submission. It creates a $0.00 internal planning record and sends the plan email. It does not place a merchandise order, charge a payment method, authorize production, reserve inventory, confirm the plan, or create a shipment.
Why is the Famehouse Philadelphia address shown, and should I change it?
Shopify may prefill the Famehouse Philadelphia address as part of its standard flow. Leave the address as shown. At this time, nothing will be shipped, and the address is not being used as a delivery destination.
Do I need payment information?
No. The plan total is $0.00 and no payment method is required. Complete the required contact fields, leave the prefilled Famehouse Philadelphia address as shown, and select Complete order to finish sending the plan email.
What happens after I select Complete order?
Shopify will show a completion page, send the plan email, and store the $0.00 planning record under My Plans. This record is an internal summary for exploration and review—not a purchase, quote, production commitment, shipment, approval, or confirmed plan.
Who can receive a plan or plan email?
AUTHORIZED UMG EMPLOYEES ONLY. Plans and plan emails may be shared internally with authorized UMG employees for planning and discussion. Do not share plans, plan emails, screenshots, pricing, cost guidance, product information, or site access with artists, management, partners, vendors, clients, or any other external party.
What information is included in the plan email?
The plan email summarizes the selected products and available planning details, which may include product names, images, Famehouse IDs, colors, production paths, product types, MSRP, COG indicators, timeline adjustments, and estimated timelines. All values remain directional until the appropriate Famehouse teams review and approve them.
Can I have more than one plan?
Yes. You can create multiple plans for different artists and campaigns.
How do I start a new plan or revisit a previous one?
To start a new plan, continue browsing the Product Menu and add products to your Plan Sheet, then give the Plan Sheet a new label. Previously submitted plans appear under My Plans in the footer. Shopify displays the page title and individual records as Orders because it stores the planning records in its standard order system.
Why do submitted plans appear as orders in My Plans?
Shopify stores submitted plans as $0.00 Orders. They remain internal planning records—not purchases, approvals, or production commitments. Open a previous record to review it, or use Buy again to recreate its products in your Plan Sheet and adjust the new plan.
Pricing, COG, MSRP & MOQ
Are prices and timelines final?
No. Pricing, timelines, and availability shown in the Product Menu are planning references and may change based on client deal terms, sourcing, customization, order volume, approvals, and production requirements. Final details must be confirmed with the appropriate teams.
What does the COG Range mean?
The COG Range is a planning estimate used to compare relative product cost and margin impact. It is not a final quote or approved cost. Final COG must be verified with Product Development, Finance, Production, Logistics, and vendor partners once final specs, quantities, artwork, timeline, shipping, and sourcing details are confirmed. Please reference the COG Rubric for more info.
How do I interpret the dollar signs in the COG Range?
The estimated COG rubric is:
- $ — $0.01 – $6.00: Entry / low-cost product. Illustrative possibilities may include basic tees, simple paper goods, small accessories, low-cost totes, and basic headwear.
- $$ — $6.01 – $18.00: Core / standard product. Illustrative possibilities may include core tees, standard headwear, many totes, basic fleece, POD items, and simple home goods.
- $$$ — $18.01 – $35.00: Premium / specialty product. Illustrative possibilities may include heavy fleece, premium sweats, jewelry, custom accessories, some home goods, and some outerwear.
- $$$$ — $35.01+: Statement / high-complexity product. Illustrative possibilities may include outerwear, varsity jackets, leather jackets, complex cut-and-sew, and high-cost custom items.
These are working, directional planning bands—not a formal or exhaustive product classification. The ranges and examples may evolve, and products may fall outside the examples above. Final COG must still be verified once product specifications, quantities, artwork, sourcing, timeline, shipping, and logistics are confirmed.
What does MOQ mean?
MOQ is the minimum quantity required to produce or purchase a product.
Can MOQ change?
Yes. MOQ can vary based on vendor, material, decoration method, product type, and timing. Please work with Product Development to verify the latest information. The MOQ displayed on the Product Menu is intended to provide directional guidance.
Are the MSRPs on Product Menu final prices?
No. MSRPs are directional and should be used for planning reference only. They are generally based on two art hits, a custom back-neck print, and e-commerce finishings. Final pricing can change based on quantity, blank, decoration method, special treatments, washes/dyes, packaging, and artist-specific requirements. Always confirm final pricing with Production before quoting or committing.
Does “$25 and Under” refer to product cost or the customer price?
It refers to directional customer-facing MSRP, not COG. Use the COG Range separately when considering estimated product cost and margin impact.
Production Paths, Timelines & Rush
What does rush available mean?
Rush available means expedited timing may be possible, but it must be confirmed based on product type, vendor capacity, approvals, and project details.
How should I plan around holiday timelines?
Use Product Menu timelines as a starting point, then reference the current seasonal timeline resource or contact the appropriate team, such as Famehouse Product Development, for confirmed holiday deadlines.
What does production lead time include?
Production lead time on a product page is the estimated time needed to physically produce the item after the product path, vendor, artwork, approvals, and execution details are confirmed. It excludes creative development and approval time. Lead-time collections are broader production-to-landed planning ranges. Neither is a guaranteed delivery date.
Does appearing in a lead-time or Quick Ship collection guarantee delivery by that date?
No. These collections provide directional planning guidance. Final timing depends on artwork readiness, approvals, sampling, quantity, vendor capacity, production, freight, routing, and launch requirements.
Customization, Decoration & Artwork
How does customization work?
Customization can be explored through decoration methods, treatments, color, materials, branding, packaging, or other product-specific details. The Product Menu is a planning and exploration tool; final customization must be reviewed with Product Development, Creative, and relevant partners to confirm feasibility, cost, timeline, MOQ, and execution.
Where do I see decoration options?
Decoration options should appear on the product detail page when they are available for that product. For any specific questions, please connect with the Famehouse Product Development team.
Can every product use every decoration method?
No. Decoration options depend on product material, shape, vendor capability, artwork, and production requirements.
What are print areas?
Print areas are the approved locations on a product where artwork can be placed.
What files are needed for artwork?
Requirements vary by decoration method, but production-ready vector or high-resolution files are often required. Please verify with Creative or Product Development.
Sizing, Fit, Materials & Sustainability
What does fit guide mean?
The fit guide helps users understand whether apparel runs small, true to size, or large.
Where can I find size charts?
Use the Size Charts resource when available. Product-specific sizing should be confirmed before final customer-facing use.
Do all products need size charts?
No. Size charts are most relevant for sized apparel, fitted headwear, and wearable accessories.
Can I call any product sustainable?
No. Sustainability language should only be used when the claim is approved and supported by the appropriate documentation.
Sales Channels, Packaging & Compliance
Can packaging be customized?
Some packaging can be customized depending on timeline, MOQ, cost, and vendor capability. Please work with your cross-functional team at Famehouse with sufficient lead time if custom packaging is of interest.
Can the same product work across multiple channels?
Yes. Many products can support multiple channels, but pricing, timing, packaging, and inventory planning may differ by channel.
What are compliance checks?
Compliance checks help confirm products meet relevant safety, labeling, material, or regulatory requirements before launch.
Which products require compliance review?
Compliance needs vary by product type. Items such as consumables, tech accessories, children's products, and certain hard goods may need additional review.
